Buckles almost always were fitted to a buckle plate that was then rivetted to the strap.

A strap width is given for the plate but small shoulders can be filed in to allow it to fit buckles with a narrower strap width.

Most belts also had a strap end for decoration and to help the strap hang down.
The strap end can be cut to a taper so a strap end with a narrower strap width than the buckle is fine.

All dimensions are in mm. s/w is strap width.
