The English Cutler - Knives

All the knives are hand forged over charcoal using a medium carbon spring steel, oil hardened and tempered to produce a good quality knife with a resilient blade that holds its edge well and is easy to sharpen. The scabbards are hand cut from vegtan cow hide, hand sewn using linen thread and hand dyed.

Most period knives show signs of the work that went into them, such as file marks, forging pits etc, English Cutler knives are no different, they aren’t highly polished, as they never were.

The knives are all based on amalgamations of existing pieces and use decorative elements and techniques from the time but they are chosen carefully to provide as wide a range of dates for the piece as possible.

The result is a knife that will work well and last well for you, be historically accurate and will be well priced.
