Scramasax or Seax
The ubiquitous knife of Northern Europe from about 700 - 1100. Vikings carried shorter ones in vertical hanging sheaths and larger ones in horizontally hanging sheaths and always with the cutting edge uppermost. The sheaths were usually edged in metal riveted through and the knife handles rarely had a through tang and usually had a whittle tang bonded into the handle. Small from £75, large from £150.
