This a broad range of knives and were terms that were certainly not used at the time and is more of a ‘catch all’ rather than a style.
The term usually accompanies single edged stout general purpose knives that would be handy in bar brawl or working down on the farm.
Often there is a set associated with them so a larger knife would be accompanied by one or two byknives and a pricker.
Also included here is the ‘Holbein’ dagger style.
Throughout the 15th and 16thC.
From £180.
