Damascus Knives

Contrary to popular myth damascus steel is no better than traditional steel, only more reliable. A dagger or sword forged from traditional steel can have a fault within the steel that cannot be seen and may break at an important moment. A damascus blade has been repeatedly folded and welded so that every part of the steel has come to the surface at some point and all the flaws have been hammered and burnt away during the folding process. It is also pretty as hell. Circa 1100 – 1400.
